The Garden is for men and women who desire deeper life with God and meaningful connection with others. You don't need to be at a certain "stage" spiritually—this retreat is for those who are curious, seeking, rooted, questioning, growing, or longing for renewal.

Yes! Men and women are both welcome at The Garden. The structure is designed with men and women in mind, and though the presenters are all female, the content itself is formational for anyone.

No. You are welcome exactly as you are. Whether your faith feels strong, uncertain, or somewhere in between, The Garden is a space of hospitality, not pressure. Come with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to engage.

Each day will include a rhythm of:

  • Teaching and guided reflection
  • Worship and music
  • Workshops that engage both heart and body
  • Shared meals and meaningful conversation
  • Time for rest, recreation, and unstructured connection

There will be space to participate fully and space to step back when you need quiet.

Participation is invitational, not forced. While community and connection are central to the retreat, you will always be encouraged to engage at your own comfort level. Listening is just as valued as speaking.

The Garden is intentionally shaped around formation and relationship—not just content. Our hope is to cultivate connections that continue to grow long after the weekend ends, forming a living "garden" of community that bears good in the world.

You'll hear from inspiring speakers and facilitators from around the country who are both spiritually grounded and experienced in their fields. Leaders have been chosen for their wisdom, humility, and ability to create spaces of depth and safety.

Worship will be thoughtful, accessible, and inviting—designed to draw participants into reflection and shared presence with God, not performance. Music will be beautiful, grounding, and spiritually nourishing.

The retreat takes place in a newly renovated, comfortable, and community-oriented retreat center in the Julian area. The setting is peaceful, beautiful, and ideal for rest, reflection, and connection.

Closer to the retreat, you'll receive a detailed packing list. Generally, plan for:

  • Comfortable clothing for warm days and cool nights
  • Personal toiletries
  • A swimsuit (if desired)
  • Workout attire for a movement class (optional)
  • Layers for outdoor time
  • Walking or hiking shoes
  • A journal (optional)
  • A posture of openness

Yes. The retreat includes optional recreation such as hiking, swimming, pickleball, and unhurried time to enjoy creation or rest. Free time is an important part of the rhythm.

Meals will be thoughtfully prepared by a local farm-to-table catering team. You'll have an opportunity to note dietary needs or restrictions during registration.

Attendees will be joining from around the country, all with a shared desire to be formed by God in relationship with others and to grow something life-giving together.

Transportation to and from the Oaks is the responsibility of the participant. The address to the Oaks will be provided once registration is complete.

If you find yourself wanting to attend. Pay attention, your wants are informative.

If you desire to be with others who have a deep love for God and desire their lives to be formed by this love, it might be a great space for you.

If you want to grow deeper in your journey with God and do not have space to commit to a year long learning co-hort or graduate school experience, this might be the place for you.

And lastly, if you desire space to breathe, grow, listen, connect, and be encouraged—this retreat may be for you.
